Blask data shows how much the Indian iGaming market depends on cricket events, especially on the domestic league.
Cricket is the number one sport in India — Blask data reveals that iGaming demand in the country strictly follows the cricket calendar. The main booster is the Indian Premier League (IPL) — domestic league, running roughly from late March to late May. Only occasionally major international cricket events manage to produce higher monthly demand.
Cricket months vs the rest
In every year from 2022 to 2025, the top three months by Blask Index in India carried major cricket. No month without a flagship event has reached the top three in four years. The highest-ranked non-cricket months were December 2022 at sixth, December 2023 at fifth, July 2024 at fourth, and August 2025 at fifth.
December is the strongest month in global iGaming, but in India it ranked only seventh by average Blask Index across 2022–2025. The cricket calendar clearly overrides the global pattern.

IPL commands iGaming demand
IPL months dominate the top of the ranking. In 2023 and 2024, April and May occupied the top two spots outright. In 2025, the high-demand window stretched wider: March, April and May swept the top three. March was boosted by the Champions Trophy, a tournament between the world’s top eight national teams, which ended on March 9 (IPL started on March 22 that year).
The IPL’s exact schedule shifts from year to year. Seasons have been suspended, delayed, and extended at various points. But the months carrying the bulk of IPL matches consistently finish first or second.
Months with major international cricket tournaments can break into the top three, but they usually rank below IPL months. In 2023, India hosted the ODI World Cup in autumn, and November reached third place by Blask Index. In 2024, the T20 World Cup ran from June 1 to 29, and that month finished third. Strong results, but both below IPL months.
The one exception is 2022. October finished first and November third, both above May. The Men’s T20 World Cup, a global tournament held every two years, ran from October 16 to November 13, spanning both months. That is the only time in four years that a non-IPL month has taken the top spot.
Months without cricket
India’s iGaming market does not shut down between cricket seasons though. Mid-table demand holds year-round.
Some of the strongest non-cricket months coincided with major football events. December 2022 fell within the final stretch of the FIFA World Cup. July 2024 caught the end of Euro 2024 and Copa América. But even with football tailwinds, none of these months reached the top three by Blask Index.
Bottom line
Four years of Blask Index data produce a consistent hierarchy. IPL months lead the year in India. The only months that have occasionally beaten them were carrying major international cricket tournaments. Everything else (casino, football, smaller cricket series) just holds demand at a respectable mid-table level.
