Twelve months, $1.66B in deposits: how Duel’s controversial marketing built a top-10 crypto casino

Eccentric founder, 50% instant rakeback, and blackjack streams built to be clipped. The data shows the strategy is working.

Launched in July 2025, Duel reached $1.66B in cumulative deposit volume in its first 12 months — enough for seventh place in the global crypto casino ranking, ahead of established names like 1win, Sportsbet io and Rollbit.

That figure comes from Tanzanite.xyz, Blask’s analytics partner tracking on-chain casino deposits. Blask’s own data confirms the picture on the demand side — Duel’s visibility across its core markets broke out through the summer of 2026.

How the operator got there in twelve months is a story built around one founder, a product manifesto, and a live-content operation calibrated for controversy.

Backstory: Monarch’s manifesto

Duel was founded by Ossi Ketola, better known online as Monarch. A Finnish entrepreneur, Ketola built CSGOEmpire — one of the largest Counter-Strike skin-betting platforms — from an €11,000 investment in 2016. He is publicly listed as the CEO of Immortal Snail LLC, Duel’s Nevis-based operating company. Named ownership is rare in offshore crypto gambling, and Duel has turned it into a marketing asset.

The product pitch is math-first. Standard casino welcome bonuses come with 40x wagering; Duel’s 50% instant rakeback carries none. Slots run on 95–96% RTP; Duel’s in-house Originals sit at 99.9%, with several at 100%. Withdrawals normally require KYC; Duel processes them without it. Each claim is a direct attack on how the rest of the market operates.

Monarch himself is the second half of the pitch. He streams personally, feuds publicly with Stake, Gamdom and Rollbit, and has spent an estimated $21M across televised high-stakes poker cash games — including approximately $15M lost to Dan “Jungleman” Cates across a heads-up series in Cyprus in August 2025. Ketola has stated on record that the poker broadcasts function as promotional spend. As branded content, they reach hundreds of thousands of engaged viewers per session.

Marketing: the blackjack table as viral stage

Duel’s second engine is its live blackjack stream, evolved from an earlier “Castle Roulette” format into the most controversial content operation in crypto gambling. Documented in industry trade press through 2026:

  • A dealer using a slur against a player mid-hand
  • A dealer without hands running a live table
  • Provocative live segments featuring adult performers Bonnie Blue and Mia Malkova alongside a costumed participant known as “Freakbob”
  • A BDSM-themed table segment
  • Dwarf hosts running suggestive stunts on the studio set
  • Monarch has personally dealt cards during at least one broadcast

The other 2026 move worth naming: Duel’s India campaign, launched with an AI-generated video ad openly mocking competitor Gamdom.

What the data shows

Blask Index for Duel — a measure of branded search demand — began climbing meaningfully in April 2026 across the operator’s core markets. Between April and July, US demand reached the highest level Blask has recorded for the brand.

India spiked in June to a level briefly comparable to the US, then collapsed in July, coinciding with the tail of the India-focused campaign. Germany, Poland and Canada all grew during the same window, at roughly a third the volume of the US.

Tanzanite deposit data confirms the trajectory on a different axis. Monthly deposit volume climbed from a small base in September 2025 to record levels in mid-2026, with a volatile Q4 2025–Q1 2026 stretch in between.

The crypto casino segment as a whole expanded through the period, so growth alone isn’t unusual. What is distinctive is reaching $1.66B in cumulative deposits inside a first year of operation. Duel doesn’t yet carry a year-on-year comparable in the ranking: the July 2026 anniversary of the launch fell only weeks before the data window closed.

The composition of those deposits is unusual. By count, roughly 89% of Duel deposits sit under $1,000, split almost evenly between under-$100 and $100–$1,000 tickets.

By volume, the picture inverts: 61% of deposit dollars come from tickets between $10K and $1M, and another 4% from $1M+ deposits.

The average deposit is $1,300 — the highest in the top 10 apart from Sportsbet.io.

Duel’s player base is small by count and heavily weighted toward high rollers: 1.28M annual deposits, versus 2.4M–29M for the operators above it. That shape fits a product built on no-KYC crypto rails, a founder recruited from the high-stakes poker circuit, and a live-content format tuned for attention rather than mass conversion.

Bottom line

Twelve months in, the deposit data says shock-driven, founder-led marketing can plant a from-scratch operator inside the top 10 of a category dominated by nine-figure ad budgets. The open questions are duration and dependency. Duel’s user acquisition sits on streaming platforms, individual influencer channels and one very public founder — any of which can change overnight. The same asymmetry that let Duel grow this fast is what will decide whether the ranking holds.
