Blask iGaming digest on Brazil — January 2025

Blask Team

Brazil is home to 220 million people, of whom 170 million have internet access and are potentially interested in iGaming entertainment. Here, football "runs in the blood"; this country has won countless competitions, tournaments, and Olympics, and children learn to make a precise pass faster than they learn to say "mom."

Among all the countries in Blask's database, Brazil leads in the Acquisition Power Score (APS), which reflects the number of new players. In the last month, Brazil has shown the fastest growth in the iGaming market in absolute figures!

What is Blask Digest?

Blask Digest is our new blog section where we discuss the monthly changes in the iGaming industry within a specific country.

We begin with Brazil. Our plan is to update this digest every month and gradually release similar ones for other countries.

The goal of Blask Digest is to keep you addicted to our blog and showcase our impressive analytics product — or rather, to keep you in touch with the pulse of the iGaming industry.

iGaming market in Brazil by the numbers.

In short, January can be summed up in one word — decline. All metrics are lower than they were in December and are generally close to the figures from March-April of last year, but the difference is that everything was on the rise back then.

💡
However, starting January 1st, Brazil has taken full control of the iGaming industry; now operations can only be conducted with a license. This is likely affecting the decline in the market.

In January, Blask Index dropped from 196M to 167M, a decline of 15%.

Actually, it's not that frightening! In the past two years, January also experienced a decline compared to December. Perhaps people make New Year's resolutions to find a new hobby or to give up gambling and casinos. However, like with any other habit, reality takes over, and things soon return to their usual course. We expect to see growth in February and March.

Blask Index is our proprietary metric, based on the concept of Share of Search, which reflects the interest of players in the iGaming market of a particular country.
The higher Blask Index = the more frequently people search online for anything related to iGaming entertainment.

It's so wonderful that in Blask we can observe changes in the Blask Index chart with daily granularity! We can see that nothing significant happened in January in Brazil that would noticeably impact players' interest in online betting or online casinos — the graph shows no anomalies or sharp fluctuations. Additionally, there is a clear pattern indicating a strong drop in activity on Mondays and a noticeable rise during the weekends.

The only thing that slightly stands out from the established pattern is a small peak on Wednesday, January 29. On that day, our lead editor had a birthday, but he lives far from Brazil, so he couldn't have influenced their iGaming market... It's strange... However, on the same day, the company Zitro — a major provider of online casino games — entered the Brazilian market. Perhaps this is what caused the slight anomalous increase in Blask Index on Wednesday.

Brazilian iGaming brands.

By default, in Blask, all brands in the table are sorted according to the Brand's Accumulated Power (BAP) metric, which reflects each brand's share of the overall interest that players have in the iGaming entertainment market within the selected country.

Among the top five iGaming brands in Brazil, we have already observed a noticeable trend of decline — four out of the five largest brands have reduced their market shares by 3-20%. The only exception is Esportes da Sorte, which has managed to increase its presence by 12%.

In Blask, brands can also be sorted by other metrics, such as Month-over-Month growth. Now we can see the brands ranked from the fastest growing over the last calendar month.

Among the top five brands in terms of growth, it’s worth highlighting MC Games and R7.bet, which have experienced an impressive growth of 111% and 101%, respectively. These are young and relatively small brands that together account for less than 1% of the market, yet they continue to grow rapidly.

To reveal a bit of intrigue — these brands began their meteoric rise in October 2024 and have yet to slow down. We recommend keeping an eye on their advertising strategies and adopting their best ideas; it’s clear they are doing something effective in a highly competitive market!

Now let's take a look at five brands that faced significant challenges in January. These brands experienced the largest decline in MoM in Brazil.

Yes, these are mostly tiny brands, although there are some international players among them, such as Parimatch. Nevertheless, their market share is rapidly declining. In line with the previous point, let’s reveal a secret: 4 out of the 5 listed brands have been shrinking for several months now.
