Senate extends Chile’s online betting bill to 26 October

Chile, the fourth-largest market in Latin America in Blask data, is still debating legalization.

The Senate extended the amendment window for online betting platforms to noon on 26 October, at the executive’s request, after the previous cutoff lapsed at noon on 16 October. Bulletin 14838-03 is in second reading before the Economy Commission.

The indications still split on how far a license should go. Saavedra, chair of the commission, and Ibáñez would keep Polla, Lotería, racetracks and land-based casinos under their own laws, and Saavedra would rather prohibit online betting than pass the government’s drafts. Senate president Paulina Núñez would leave only Polla and Lotería legal.

Blask data shows steady growth. Monthly CEB in September was $110.6M ($55.3M–$276.4M), 96.2% above January 2024 and 61.4% above January 2025. Chile is fourth of 18 Latin American markets in Blask on that nine-month sum.

Inside Chile, Betano holds 45.1% of CEB for the same window. Its search share fell from 64% on 4–17 September to 39% from 26 September through 13 October, so the nine-month revenue benchmark and the latest demand reading have split. Top ten brands account for 81.2% of Chile CEB.

A license, a carve-out for Polla and the casinos, or a prohibition is still open.
