Stake’s Alberta launch gets a license in Alberta, beating other legal brands.
On 6 October, Stake Canada Ltd. had received a licence from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). The company plans to go live on 12 October 2026, after it signs an operating agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC).
Details
The AGLC register lists Stake Canada Ltd. as an iGaming operator until 24 September 2027. AGLC rules require both that registration and a commercial agreement with AiGC. Unregulated betting was supposed to end on 13 July 2026, when the regulated market opened. AGLC guidance from 17 March 2026 can give some operators more time. That extra time ends on 13 October 2026.
Stake’s Blask Index in Alberta fell 16.1% from September 2025 to September 2026, after rising into June. Stake’s BAP moved from 19.1% to 18.7%.

The operator ranked second in the province, 1.9 points behind Play Alberta, the government-run site, and the only onshore brand above it. Stake’s CEB is the first in this province.

Until AiGC signs, the number-two brand stays outside the licensed market, one day short of the guidance cap on unregulated play.
