Indonesia to block illegal bank accounts as iGaming grew 64.5% YoY

Komdigi’s account list got longer, and the instructions attached to it got wider.

On 5 October Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) told commercial banks to run enhanced due diligence, block about 38 796 accounts tied to online gambling, or both. Banks must also close other accounts that match the same national identity number (NIK) and repeat the due diligence.

Indonesian laws: iGaming is prohibited

Indonesia does not license casino or sports betting. Since 2 January 2026 the Criminal Code, Law No. 1 of 2023, has been in force. Offering gambling without a permit carries up to nine years or a Rp2B ($111,900) fine. Playing casino games or making bets faces up to three years or Rp50M ($2,800).

Distributing gambling content online is a separate offence under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, as amended by Law No. 1 of 2024. The penalty is up to 10 years, a Rp10B ($559.3K) fine, or both.

In September 2026, Indonesian CEB rose 64.5% YoY. Of that gain, 67.2% came after June.

The printed list is 421 accounts longer, while CEB sits at its peak for the window. Later months will show whether closing every other account on the same national ID pulls revenue down.
