Florida targets ad platforms over sweepstakes brands that hold 37% of state demand

The letters take Florida’s sweepstakes cases onto the platforms that sell the ads.

On 25 September 2026, Attorney General James Uthmeier wrote that his office had sent letters to Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap and TikTok after finding they may be advertising illegal sweepstakes casinos to Florida residents. The companies have until 23 October to confirm in writing that they have stopped promoting Stake, Chumba, LuckyLand and Global Poker in the state.

On 19 August the same office filed two Hillsborough County lawsuits against those operators and the payment processors that enable them. Florida has no licence class for sweepstakes casinos. The attorney general treats the Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin model as illegal online gambling under existing state law.

Sweepstakes search in the state moved sideways through winter, then jumped in June and July. By August 2026 it was 71.1% above August 2025.

Chumba led that August board. LuckyLand was second, and Stake fourth. The three names took 37.1% of the Florida sweepstakes Blask Index between them that month.
