After Brazil’s betting ban, 25% more players opened the withdrawal page
In the first 36 hours, players came back to licensed apps to cash out, not to bet.
On 25 September 2026 President Lula banned fixed-odds betting and online casino in Brazil, including state licences. Lotteries stay legal. New deposits stopped that evening. Players can withdraw until 23:59 on 5 October, and sites and apps go dark on 6 October. The Finance Ministry estimates R$1.7B is still held on the platforms.
Blask’s behavioural panel covers licensed .bet.br sites through Saturday 26 September, the first 36 hours of the ban. Players still came: Saturday’s audience was only 5.2% below the average of the previous four Saturdays. But they came for a different reason. Pages viewed per visitor fell 41%, and 185 panellists opened a withdrawal page, against an average of 148. That is 25% more.

India saw the same first step in August 2025, when local apps dropped cash games and players logged in to withdraw.
From 6 October, Anatel, the telecoms regulator, and CGI.br, the internet steering committee, will block licensed sites, and app stores must remove the apps. Between 7 and 14 October operators report remaining balances, banks return the money to the account it came from, and state bank Caixa handles any transfer that fails.
