Betano’s Chile demand share fell from 64% to 39% in three weeks

Chile’s largest betting brand lost its grip on search in the weeks Subtel was blocking betting mirrors.

On 1 September, Subtel notified internet providers to DNS-block 42 betting URLs within 48 hours, a list that already named Betano. Later that month it ordered a block on 37 further domains and mirrors, on the same deadline, while the Senate has approved an online-betting bill in general and is reading it article by article.

Blask data shows the first list left the ranking intact. Betano still held 64% of Chile search from 4–17 September. The share left that plateau on the 18th, three days before the second order added mirrors for brands already on the first list.

From 26 September through 13 October the total is still 39%, daily swings included. JugaBet, absent from the brands named in the second order, rose from 9.3% to 13.8% between the earlier fortnight and this window. Casino en Chile, also unnamed there, went from under 1% to 5.4% over the same dates, and 1win to 4.2%.

Betano held 47% of September CEB, matching its August share. The monthly baseline still averages a month that was only partly through the break.
