New Zealand names 11 auction winners for online casino licence applications

Eleven entities won application rights; licences still hinge on DIA review.

New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) closed its ascending clock auction on 12 October 2026. Eleven entities now hold the right to file full licence applications for 15 brand-specific slots after 32 bidders went through 10 rounds between 29 September and 12 October.

The clearing price was NZ$15M per slot. But winning the auction does not grant a licence. DIA must still assess each application before any brand goes on the public register.

This is the list of iGaming operators who won an application right:

  • Baytree Interactive Limited (3 application rights) — JackpotCity, Spin Casino, Betway (Super Group)
  • Playvia Gaming (NZ) Limited (2) — two Entain casino brand filings: PartyCasino and a second brand not yet public
  • Rock Swift Group Limited (2) — Cosmo Casino, Casino Kingdom;
  • SkyCity NZ Online NO1 Limited (1) — SkyCity;
  • SkyCity NZ Online NO2 Limited (1) — second SkyCity online casino brand filing; name not yet public;
  • Stake New Zealand Limited (1) — Stake;
  • TAB New Zealand (1) — TAB (Entain-operated);
  • Skill On Net Limited (1) — PlayOJO;
  • One Casino Limited (1) — OneCasino;
  • Christchurch Online NZ Limited (1) — consumer brand not yet public;
  • Rush Entertainment Limited (1) — consumer brand not yet public.

From 1 December 2026, providers without a pending application must stop serving New Zealand.

BAP for September 2026 covers 11 mapped consumer brands from the auction list that appear in the New Zealand GEO pull. Those eleven brands held a combined 48.3% BAP share in New Zealand that month.

Christchurch Online NZ and Rush Entertainment have no tracked casino brand yet; SkyCity’s second filing brand is not public.

A NZ$15M slot fee secures only the right to apply. Search leaders and tail brands now share the same queue until DIA rules on each application ahead of the 2027 go-live.
